Ultramodern Steel Kitchen Design Concept

Just like impractical runway fashion is often more about art than clothing, some furniture design puts form over function in over-the-top designs meant to dazzle. But even if they won’t be appearing in real kitchens any time soon, Stratocucine’s high-end steel kitchen designs highlight the best of what minimalism can be: clean, simple and soothing.

Embrace Lounge

At a first glance the embrace loungedoesn’t look to impressive, is looking like something very simple, but the embrace lounge has a hidden, body-shaped curve in it, allowing you to feel the comfort of a warm embrace. This piece was inspired by the need for a hug while away from home. The embrace lounge was designed by Tanya Aguiniga’s, a Los Angeles based furniture designer/maker raised inTijuana, Mexico. Her work encourages users to reconsider the objects they use on a daily basis by creating work that explores an objects’ unseen aspect, such as half chairs that rely on the wall to function and whose image is only complete as its shadow is cast upon the wall.

The Platzhalter Bookcase

The Platzhalter bookshelf has a split personality, which happens to be a good thing. Possibly inspired by that guy everyone knows whose bookcases are so full tomes can be neither stored nor withdrawn, the Platzhalter bookshelf splits down the middle providing about 30% more storage space. Of course, “that guy” will just overstuff it again, but at least someone’s making an effort.
